Community Events
Mardi Gras
The Mission Board of the First Congregational Church of Hopkinton is
hosting a Mardi Gras Dinner and Silent Auction on Saturday Feb. 18 to
support a group of volunteers traveling to Biloxi, MS to assist needy
families with the continued recovery and reconstruction after
Hurricane Katrina. Doors open at 5:00 pm at the Harold Martin School,
Hopkinton, NH. Tickets
are $8 and are available at the door. Music, food and fun for the
whole family and great items available at auction.
Friends Program Mentoring
The Friends Youth Mentoring Program provides children with a
supportive, non-judgmental mentor who can serve as a positive model.
Our mentoring program matches volunteers age 16 and up (Senior
Friends) with youth (Junior Friends) ages 6-18 in a one to one
relationship.
The primary goal of the mentoring relationship is to create
opportunities for youth which will lead to enhanced self-esteem and
improved behavior at home, in school, and in the community.
We invite you to join us for Mentor Orientation and learn more about
this valuable volunteer role on Thursday, March 15th, 2012 from
6:00-8:30 pm at the Hopkinton Library Community Room. Light dinner
provided. Please register by March 12th by calling Sue Withers or
Brooke Noonan at 603-228-1193 or e-mail bnoonan at friendsprogram.org.
Junior Service League
The Junior Service League puts on a play each year to benefit women
and children in need and to provide the opportunity for children to
see live theater. Hopkinton School District staff members Kelly
Conley (Glumpwart) and Carol Clark (Swartzbuckle) star in this version
of Rapunzel.
The play is on Friday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 17,
at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's School in Concord. The cost for tickets is
$5.
