Hello Everyone:

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

A few important “Community Announcements” are listed below:

GET OUTside Hopkinton!! In September and October we will have our
final programs celebrating the great outdoors. This program is a
partnership between the Hopkinton Town Library and the Hopkinton
School District, Greener Hopkinton as well as several other community
groups. It includes the following programs:

v Community Read “Last Child in the Woods” (Richard Louv). Borrow
a copy from the Hopkinton Town Library or purchase your own copy at
the library for $5 thanks to YBP and the Library’s Foundation. Last
Child in the Woods brings together research indicating that direct
exposure to nature is essential for healthy childhood development and
for the physical and emotional health of children and adults. More
than just raising an alarm, Louv offers practical solutions and simple
ways to heal the broken bond right in our own backyard!

v Book Discussion of “Last Child in the Woods” with Scott Semmens,
naturalist and environmental studies teacher at Hopkinton High School.
(September 28th 2011 7pm)
v Movie Showing. Free Showing “Mother Nature’s Child” the 2010
film that explores the essential ways nature experience promotes
children's well-being, contributes to the future of the planet and
nourishes the human spirit. Following the film, there will be a
discussion with film co-director Wendy Conquest. (October 23rd 2011
4pm)
