Parent Flash 6/15/12

It was a great year!

On this final Parent Flash of this school year I reflect back on so many memories. I think of my time playing chess with some boys in my office, high fives as the kids left the building at the end of the day and "good mornings" as the flock arrived at 8 AM. I appreciated my time this year working with world class teachers and staff members whether it was collaborating on a school project or hiring a new member of our school. Observing great teaching from HMS veterans or newcomers was a highlight as well as helping out a family in need or watching volunteers interviewing kids for the Publishing Center. Like most of you, our jobs are not easy or stress-free. But we feel blessed working in a town that supports education.

I wish you a relaxing summer full of family memories. If you need assistance from HMS, feel free to call or email as I will be in most of the summer. I also check email daily at wcarozza at hopkintonschools.org.

            All the best,

           Bill Carozza, Principal

Field Day—Monday

Our annual field day is scheduled for this Monday June 18th for grades 1-3. The weather forecast for the beginning of next week calls for warm and sunny days so please remember to dress your children in appropriate summer clothing. Also, since everyone will be mostly outdoors and therefore away from any water fountain, we encourage students to pack a water bottle that has their name clearly written on the side. Thank you so much and happy summer!

Thank you, HMS Teacher Volunteers

*****

Thank you to Publishing Center Volunteers

If your child comes home this year with a "published book" most likely it was due to the great Publishing Center volunteers. Every year 3 volunteers are assigned to participating classrooms to help the students create a typed and comb-bound books. This year the Publishing Center created 74 books for mostly the 2nd and 3rd grades.

Publishing Center is a long tradition at HMS and it couldn't be done without volunteers. Many of the volunteers were able to do the work from their home so they could still feel involved with their student's classroom/grade, if they work full-time or have younger children.

So thank them if you get a chance:

Hot Lunch Program

The year is quickly coming to an end and we have students with negative balances on their NutriKids account. Could you please send in the balance due before school ends so the lunch program can close its accounts for the year.

                                                Thank you!
