HMS PARENT FLASH OCTOBER 22, 2010

We are a month away from Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays of the year. While the fourth Thursday in November is but one day, our own feelings of thanks can come at any time. With the donations to the playground flowing in over the past week I am very thankful for the generosity that exists in this town. Every day we are opening envelopes with checks of all different amounts. We are even receiving checks from people we don’t know who are most likely relatives of Hopkinton families. Each person is contributing a piece of a legacy that will be built over the next few weeks and adding new memories that will be constructed as part of a new HMS playground.

Speaking of memories, anyone who wants to say goodbye to our current playground structure needs to give their bon voyage by Saturday morning. Beginning at 8 AM, the Hopkinton Rescue Squad with the aid of the “jaws of life” will be dismantling the old playground, and next week the installation of the new playground will likely begin. We will need volunteers soon and when I have dates and times, I will send out an email and publish new info on the “Playground Project” tab on our web site at http://www.hopkintonschools.org/haroldmartinschool/. The installation will be conducted by professionals but we will need help with various tasks such as spreading our new surfacing product.

I hope to see many of you at the Halloween Parade and Holler tomorrow beginning at 11:30. Have a great weekend!
