PARENT FLASH 4-13-07

THOUGHTS FROM THE CORNER OFFICE

Spring is a very busy time and the craziness of the weather doesn’t
help. Here are some thoughts for today:
· The Second Grade play went splendidly thanks to the teachers,
students, and Mrs. Griffin. It is always heartening to see how kids
have their best performance during the “real thing”. It’s a great
opportunity for them to shine, most for the first time, on a stage in
front of hundreds of parents.

· The HMS parking lot continues to be a focus for me. We have
formed an ad hoc committee to look at how to make the morning drop-
off and afternoon pick up times safer for everyone. In addition, we
are looking at the possibility, with grant money, of building a
walkway heading into the building for those who would like to walk to
Harold Martin safely, not to mention the rare occasion we may have to
evacuate the building to our site at St. Andrew’s.

· We will be having the Newmarket Jump Rope team coming in
early May. They are truly inspirational. We have more details coming.

· Have you marked your calendar for May 12? That’s the day of
our annual Fun Fair, one of the largest events in Hopkinton. Come
support our PTA, enjoy the games and raffles, and hang out with your
neighbors.

· This summer will be a busy time around HMS as our 1958 wing
will be receiving new windows and a revamped ventilation system. Yes,
it will be a tad noisy around here for a while, but the air quality
improvements will be much appreciated!

· Did you know that I have the entire year’s Parent Flashes
archived on the web site? Head to http://hopkintonschools.org/hms/
principal/flash.html

Have a great weekend and batten down the hatches.
All the best,

Bill Carozza,
Principal
