[HMHS News] Listening Post/Budget Information

Hello Everyone:

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The purpose of this email is  
to announce a second Hopkinton School District Listening Post being  
held tonight, Wednesday, December 1, 2010, from 6:30pm - 7:30pm in the  
Maple Street School Library. Liz Durant, school board vice chair, and  
I will be gathering community thoughts and ideas regarding the  
development of Hopkinton School District’s new Attendance,  
Absenteeism, and Truancy Policy. Major components for the policy  
include defining an excused absence, developing a process to intervene  
in instances of truancy, and a significant change in the definition of  
truancy. Please feel encouraged to attend or email questions/comments.

On another note, the Hopkinton School Board is currently developing  
the 2011-2012 School District Budget. Information from last night’s  
school board meeting will be posted on the District website shortly.  
The following events and dates are related to the budget development:

December 7, 2010: Hopkinton School Board Meeting, second budget  
presentation, 5:30pm, Maple Street School
December 14, 2010: Hopkinton School Board Meeting, third budget  
presentation, 5:30pm, Maple Street School
January 5, 2011: HSD Budget Presentation to the Hopkinton Budget  
Committee, Town Hall
January 12, 2011: HSD Budget Presentation to the Hopkinton Budget  
Committee, Town Hall
February 2, 2011: Hopkinton Budget Committee Public Hearing, Hopkinton  
High School 	auditorium
March 12, 2011, Hopkinton School District Meeting, Hopkinton High  
School gymnasium
