HOPKINTON MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL MISSION

We foster a learning environment that is safe, supportive, and
respectful.
We promote personal integrity, intellectual curiosity, and civic
responsibility. We provide traditional and innovative opportunities
for students to maximize their potential.

Thank you to all the parents that attended open house last Thursday
evening. It was wonderful to get the chance to meet and talk. I hope
everyone enjoyed the opportunity to meet the teachers that work with
their children on a daily basis and learn about the curriculum that is
being taught.

It is amazing to see how busy Hopkinton Middle High School is this
time of year. Seventh Grade will be attending Environmental Camp
during the week of October 6th, NECAP testing is quickly approaching,
the eighth grade will take the NECAP on 10/16, 10/17, 10/20, and 10/21
and the seventh grade will take the NECAP on 10/16, 10/17, and 10/20.
Hopkinton Middle and High School will be hosting three college fairs
on Sept. 25th, October 6th & 20th from 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM in the high
school auditorium and fall sports are in full swing.

This year the decision was made not to administer the MAP test during
the fall for grades 7, 8 & 9. This was done in an attempt to minimize
the amount of time instruction is interrupted during the start of the
school year. MAP testing will still occur in the spring.

Next Friday, September 26th, the middle school will be having their
Homecoming Dance, as they kick off spirit week. The cost of a dance
ticket is $5.00. The dance will begin at 7:00 PM and end at 9:30 PM.

Just a reminder that September 23rd is an early release day. Busses
will pick up students at 12:10 PM.

As I come to a close, I’ll leave you with this:

Hopkinton Middle High School Booster Club

Fall 2008

“The Hopkinton Booster Club supports Hopkinton middle and high school
athletes through parent and community involvement”.

It’s that time of year again- the annual Booster Club Membership
drive. The Booster Club was established to help promote school and
community spirit. Our mission is to support our student athletes by
encouraging them in their athletic pursuits. We’re asking your help in
helping us to support your student athletes.

This past year we had the pleasure of organizing many successful
events for our student athletes. These included:

Hosting receptions for teams returning from State Championship games/
meets.
Helping pay a portion of the cost of Championship sweatshirts,
jackets, pants etc.
Hosting the annual Homecoming spaghetti dinner.
Providing and presenting picture frames and hats to senior athletes
and their parents.
Provide pizza dinner for all spring athletes.
Provide “Boost Bags” (goodie bags) to all athletes at their last game.
Sponsor an end of the year coaches’ dinner.
Award Male and Female Athlete of the Year Scholarship (chosen by
varsity coaches).
2007-08 winners were David Wood and Jessica Partlow
Purchase the NHICA (New Hampshire Coaches Association) 12 Season
Athlete Sweatshirts.

In past years we have:

Purchased the “We Love our Hawks” banner that can be taken from the
gymnasium and brought to away games.
Purchased a new Hopkinton Hawk costume.
Painted two Hawks on the gymnasium wall.
Donated money for the chairs for the basketball team “benches”.

In the future we hope to:

Contribute to the renovation of the “trainer’s room” in the locker
room area.
Build a stand for the portable score board used by the Field Hockey
and Lacrosse Teams.
Contribute to a new score board for the softball field.

We could do even more, if we have your help this year. Helping with
the Booster Club is enjoyable and rewarding and it does not require a
large time commitment!

The Booster Club’s next meeting is Monday September 15, 2008 at 7:00
PM in Room 202 at the High School, and then the first Monday of each
month after that.

If you can’t make meetings but would like to make a donation
(suggested donation of $10 per person) or help with a specific event,
please fill out the form on the back of this sheet!
