HOPKINTON MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL MISSION

We foster a learning environment that is safe, supportive, and
respectful.
We promote personal integrity, intellectual curiosity, and civic
responsibility.
We provide traditional and innovative opportunities for students to
maximize their potential.

I believe that March Madness is applicable to more than just
basketball. This is an extremely busy time of year with one sport
season ending and another starting, town elections and meetings, the
school district meeting, Celebration for the Arts, our students
returning from their French Exchange, Beech Hill Players Production,
middle and high school Sport Awards Night, Spanish dancing instruction
for our Spanish classes, college prep meetings, course registration for
next years classes, Curriculum Night, high school and middle school
math meets, are just some of the events that are happening this month.

Fall sports for high school will begin Monday, August 14 and middle
school fall sports will begin Monday August 21. Please look ahead at
your calendars, so summer vacations can be planned accordingly. Please
be sure to take the time and schedule physicals as soon as possible and
submit forms to the school nurse.

On Thursday, March 16, I had the wonderful opportunity to have lunch
with senior citizens from the community who visited Hopkinton Middle
High School as part of “Learning is Ageless.” “Learning is Ageless” is
a day where senior citizens shadow middle school students as they
attend their morning classes. After attending classes, Mrs. Hoik’s
class served lunch for the senior citizens. The senior citizens were
very impressed by our students and mentioned more than once how well
behaved and polite they were.

Please help Hopkinton Middle High School raise funds for the PTA. If
you have an unused cell phone sitting at home please consider recycling
it. Phones can be recycled at any of the schools in the district.

This year’s Celebration of the Arts proved to be another great success.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for members of the community to see how
talented and artistic our young people are. I’d like to thank everyone
who was involved in making this event happen.

As I come to a close, I’ll leave you with this:

'All human beings are born with unique gifts. The healthy functioning
of our community depends on its capacity to develop each gift.' Peter
Senge 'The Learning School.'

Christopher Kelley
Assistant Principal

HYSA BASEBALL/SOFTBALL COACHING CLINICS

HYSA is holding coaching clinics for all baseball and softball head
coaches, assistant coaches and other parents who would like to learn
more about coaching baseball or softball. Dave Chase, Hopkinton High
School’s varsity baseball coach and Mike Timm, Hopkinton High School’s
varsity softball coach, will conduct the clinics which will cover
proper practice techniques, drills and how to organize practices.

HYSA requests that all parents who wish to coach or assist during
practices attend the clinics. HYSA coaches rely on the assistance of
parents to run effective practices. We encourage parents to become
involved with our programs. Attending a coaching clinic is a great way
to obtain skills and become more comfortable assisting with practices.

Date: Sunday March 19, 2006
Where: Hopkinton High School Gym
Times:	5 to 6pm – Focus on Tball and Rookie levels (coach pitch)
6 to 7pm - Focus on Minors and Majors

Interested individuals may attend one or both clinics. If you have any
questions regarding the clinics please call Darren Winslow at 746-2814
or Mark McIntire at 746-6455.
