Thoughts from a slightly bigger office:
I hope everyone had a wonderful vacation. It seems incredible that
there are only five weeks until graduation and six weeks until the
end of the school year.
Next Saturday night is the prom from 7 pm to12 midnight. It's the
last high school dance of the year. I have been very pleased with
the change in climate of the dances this year. The attendance has
increased as we have implemented new policies. If your youngster is
going to the prom next Saturday night, please discuss proper behavior
and the importance of safe decision making. The prom will follow the
same guidelines as the other dances with the addition of a minimum
arrival time. All students must arrive at the prom by 9:30 pm. This
year's prom is at Pats Peak in Henniker. I am looking forward to a
wonderful, special night.
A common theme for Hopkinton High School this year has been that our
students are exceptional representatives of our school and community.
Our students returned from a very successful exchange in France with
tremendous compliments on their behavior, attitude, and appreciation
of the experience.
Similarly, the middle school attended a Fisher Cats game and
represented the school and community in an exemplary way. Thank you
to the number of parents that attended that event.
The sophomores completed the state NHEIAP testing this week. I
appreciated their purposeful effort while completing this important
assessment.
Today, I am attending a New England Association of Schools and
Colleges (NEASC) self-study planning workshop. NEASC is our school's
accrediting body. Over the next two years, we will be performing a
self-study in anticipation of a spring '06 site visit.
We are currently in the process of hiring a drug alcohol/crisis
counselor, a half-time high school special education teacher, a 4/5
drama/arts integration teacher and a high school clerical assistant.
We have received a number of wonderful applications.
Due to the scheduling of an NHIAA baseball tournament game, we have
had to reschedule Academic Awards Night to Monday, June 7. We
apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
The next six weeks will be a crazy time as we end one year while
planning for the next. Thank you for all your support.
